MATT DEITCHMAN is a New York City based music director, arranger/orchestrator, actor, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is a proud member of both the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) and Actor's Equity Association (AEA).

In NYC, Matt's work has primarily focused as a musician and music director for new musicals. This fall (2024) he will be the Associate Music Director and Conductor (while regularly playing Banjo & Guitar) for the new Avett Brothers musical, Swept Away. He was also recently the Associate MD/Cond. for The Heart Of Rock And Roll while holding the Guitar 2/Keyboard 2 chair.

 

He has subbed as a pianist and guitarist for Broadway shows such as Parade, A Strange Loop, and Almost Famous, and was the music director and conductor for Trevor: A New Musical (streaming globally on Disney+, album available on streaming platforms everywhere). He also maintains a busy schedule as a music director / music supervisor / arranger / orchestrator for regional theatre productions, cruise ship entertainment, solo shows & cabarets, and various other endeavors.

Before moving to NYC, Matt worked throughout the Chicagoland area and regionally on and off stage.        His credits include work with: Marriott Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Paramount Theatre, Writers Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, Lyric Opera Of Chicago, Asolo Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Co. - DC, South Coast Repertory Theatre, American Stage Theatre, Mercury Theater, Door Shakespeare, FWD Theater Project, American Music Theater Project, The Hypocrites, Chicago Children's Theater, Steppenwolf Garage, Door Shakespeare, Griffin Theatre, Drury Lane Theater, Theater At The Center, among many others. ​

 

Matt graduated with high honors from the Northwestern University Theatre Department where he appeared in numerous department and student productions as an actor and composed, orchestrated for, and twice music directed the annual Waa-Mu Show. He studied acting with Mary Poole, music direction and orchestration with Ryan Nelson, and voice with Melissa Foster.
